[RC] re: trail ettiquette - Cindy Collins

"if your horse cannot be safely passed by a galloping horse on a wide
road, one member of your team is not ready to participate in 50 mile
rides."

Dabney, I honestly don't think this is what anyone is talking about, BUT
for the sake of argument...who the heck needs to be galloping by you at
full speed in the first 3 miles of trail? Is that the image we want? I'm
not talking here about FEI rides. I believe the discussion focused on LD
riders galloping by and/or crashing into endurance riders who are choosing
to start out slowly and responsibly with a young or inexperienced horse.
I also believe we talked about single track trails. There have been
numerous accidents like this in recent years. Several people emailed me
privately about their accidents. Sadly, they are afraid to respond to
ridecamp publicly because they don't want people to come down on them. I
know that you are a very responsible rider, Dabney, but not every one is.
Cindy
