[RC] rude rider - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I've been reading the posts about rude riders. I'm new to the sport and just
learning. I do have a great mentor. She's been there and done it all. I was
taught that it was my responsibity to maintain control of my horse, or in my
case mule. If overtaken by other faster riders. I should get out of their way.
If the're faster the're in the race not me. That makes sense, I don't want to
impede a front runner. In preparation before my first race I would ride at a
walk or trot and have a group of friends gallop up from behind and do a full
speed blow-by. I needed to know I could move to the side and maintain my pace
and control. The faster rider shouldn't have to ride behind me and evaluate my
skills or horses training level. They shouldn't have to yell "on the right" or
"on the left". I shouldn't be in the middle of the trail when someone is coming
up from behind. If a passing rider seem rude it may be because a slower rider
failed to yield. Still learning and may be wrong. But I would rather get out of
the way than cause a crash. When I do get passed, and I do, I'm off to one side
in control of my mule and all I ever get is a smile and wave.
