I definitely have seen this response when feeding grain - even pelleted senior feed.  I don't feed more than 5 lbs at a time, though.  So it could be because of the hay, which is always in front of my horse when back in camp at a ride (?)  BTW, I'm not talking about major diarrhea, but definitely more motility, moisture and volume.

No--there's not that much of it. It's digested quickly and happily before it ever reaches the lower gut. Even triple doses have not caused that kind of trouble. You get into trouble when you feed large amounts of grain--particularly if you're feeding other feedstuffs that inhibit digestion and absorption. When feeding grain, keep the portions small and feed more often--no more than 5 lbs at a time.
