RE: [RC] [RC] Saddle Fit - Catfish DanielsHi Carol:I once also used a Bob Marshall saddle. It was too long for my short Arab's back. If you're looking for a treeless saddle with a completely different configuration and appearance - and shorter on the back, check out the FreeFormUSA.com website. Steve Elliot is a distributor and will be happy to answer any questions you have. Anyway, today was my first day to demo the Feeform saddle - and I wanted to do a 4 mile loop to get the feel of the saddle. We ended up doing a little over 28 miles and I am absolutely amazed. Not only because it fit perfectly (as they said it would, no matter what type of horse you have), but also what it had done to my horse. She moved with so much more extension, freedom, bounce, and you could just tell that she was feeling good. It was like riding a different horse that just took a dose of "feel great vitamins". The saddle can be customized and is very cleverly put together. The most amazing thing is the pad that comes along with it. Talking about a custom fit for EVERY horse. And now for the rider - this saddle is incredibly comfortable and I was surprised how secure it holds you in the seat compared to other English saddles. Your best bet is to demo one and experience it for yourself. It'll be cheaper than the route I took and lessons I had to learn along the way. I am not a distributor and I'm not trying to talk you into that type of saddle - but after riding today, it is my top choice by far. My second choice (and mind you I have tried anything from the Wintec Endurance Pro with changeable gullets and cair panels to you name it...it's been an expensive venture) is the Solstice from the Arabian Saddle company. Beverly Gray is a distributor of them. Great saddle - had it now for several years and it's very comfortable and fits my one gelding excellent. Cathy Richardson (this year's Tevis winner) also rides in the Solstice for the past year or so. Anyway, that's just my personal opinion - hope it helps.
