What I would like to know is what are the ramifications of these findings?
Like, what does high cortisol actually do to a body? The makers of Cortaslim
would have us believe that cortisol is the reason we are fat, especially with
belly fat. But what does transient high cortisol do? What does this article
actually mean to us, as endurance riders?

Basically it shows that endurance exercise that is overdone can mimic some of
the symptoms of Cushings disease. Cortisol is one of a cascade of hormones that
are increased in athletes that do not get enough recovery between hard works or
do long work that they are unfit to do. It is a catabolic hormone and tears
down useful tissues. One of the reasons we dose with fast acting carbs
immediately after hard work is to avoid the catabolic cascade that includes
cortisol.

I don't know what the TV ad talking about bellies and cortisol is all about.
What you'll see in this catabolic state is elevated CK and LDH in the blood,
lost body weight, off-feed, muscle soreness, lethargic or cranky behavior. And
a perfect set up for injury.
