Subject: [RC] Tom Ivers - Dream Weaver

I ask this question: "Does anyone have any hard evidence that his advice has
worked for you?"

I do. Tom gave me what I needed to 100% successfully rehab a horse with a torn shoulder injury in 2000/2001. That horse successfully completed the 2001 XP ride, being one of 2 horses that did the most miles with one rider. That horse has over 6000 miles now, 11 years of competition and is still sound and being ridden.

I have also read Tom's book (TFR II) and used information from it to benefit my horses in their conditioning and workout levels. I don't ride fast often, but I do ride a lot of miles and even going slow, miles are miles and I like to have my horses well prepared for what I ask of them. So they don't go home from rides lame, or needing time off. I applied some of Tom's information to my two horses that I prepared for the 2001 XP. Everybody thought I was crazy for riding them so many miles to prepare them for that trip. Most of the thinking at that point (and still, probably) was based upon letting the horse rest and not stressing them too much ahead of an event like that.

I have worked to improve Chief's efficiency score, and in doing so became a lot more aware of where we were, where we are, and where we are going. Like I said, I ride slow but I have won the one big year long race the last two years -- the same horse doing the most miles.
