Anyone who has spent time reading legal contracts, or patents is aware of this problem. Both often have lines like:
"For the purposes of this patent hot fitting refers to the practice of placing the hot horseshoe briefly on bottom of the horses foot, and hot shaping refers to the practice of heating the steel shoe to red heat before using a hammer and anvil to form the metal to the shape of the hoof."


I submit that it is more polite and helpful to post a set of defined expressions which will clear up this sort of misunderstanding than it is to claim superior intellegence or education
