I agree with below, so explain to me, how those of
us
who are non-farriers, and have no schooling or
professional training on the subject, seem to get
this
and the professional farriers (enough of them to be
causing alot of us pain and consternation) don't or
won't???

You're changing farriers too slowly, Carolyn. I went through 6 in the first 
year at Windy Ridge.

In the end, it is your responsibility, not the mechanic's. It is you who needs 
to keep the shoeing card for the horse, detailing all aspects of the feet, and 
who needs to direct the farrier to do the job that you want. If he wants to 
"horse the shoe" rather than shoe the horse, then you throw him off the farm.
