Re: [RC] NAEC question - Truman Prevatt

Least we forget that the ETZ won two of the three individual metals. We had a little bad luck with the team. Who would have thought Danielle would run into bad luck with the horse she won Arabian Nights on. We were leading for the team gold until she pulled. Five out of the first 10 is not a bad showing at all.

As for Super, well he was Super. Would Stagg have done as good a job riding him instead of crewing for him? I'm not going there ;-)

Each region does its own thing. The East went to the points system I
think to make sure new up and coming horses weren't passed over just
because some other horse (which may by now have lameness problems) had a
bigger name/reputation. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In the
2001 Pan Ams Connie Caudhill top tenned on a horse that she started when
he was, I believe, 11, almost immediately competed in lots of SLOW 100's,
and didn't have a long resume for runningup front in 100's, but she
peaked him just in time for the Pan Ams and came darned close (in my
eyes) of taking BC. Nina Barnett's horse in the top 10 this time is an
example of an up and coming guy who peaked just in time. Hopefully he'll
be around for a long time. :-)

It's tough when an experienced horse has a bad season during qualifying
but comes back in time for the event. But I guess that's the breaks. If
they'd chosen Super off his reputation, then he'd gone lame at the ride
everyone would have been saying we ignore the young strong ones and pick
worn out horses with records. :-P Remember when Rio won BC at the
World...for Germany?

Congrats to Super anyway. I love a strong little horse.
