RE: [RC] knuckling over--another plea for advice - Mary Krauss

Sounds like we're all talking about at least two different things: dragging toes when going downhill is one issue and that weird catching misstep on any sort of ground is the other. My Andalusian (who definitely paddles as someone else pointed out) does the latter on occasion. Scares the heck out of me every time it happens. It feels like he's stepped into a really big hole. One time last week, he was pretty tired at the time, he picked up his head from a nibble break, experienced that misstep thing, and we nearly did a somersault. It was really scary. I sat very still just thinking, "c'mon, catch yourself, you can do it, let's not die, c'mon, catch yourself." He was pretty freaked out too. I believe the part about timing/paddling, but, I worry that there's more going on. His saddle definitely does NOT fit, so back pain might be contributing to the problem. His other problem that I'm starting to recognize as a pretty consistent issue, is reluctance to go downhill. Any ideas out there? I'm calling a vet today to arrange a complete once-over but would love feedback from this group.
