[RC] Knuckling Over in the rear - Don Huston

I was never sure what caused it. It would start after 4-5 hours of riding and generally at a walk or slow working trot on a hard trail or dirt road where there was nothing to trip on. Walking down a steep hill I've noticed most horses turn their rears over the toe in a jerking motion and sometimes even hit the front of the coronet band in the dirt but they have already taken the weight off that leg and they seem fine. Knuckling over seems to be the same movement but it would obviously hurt my horse and he would yank his head up. Sometimes his back was sore but it would be the whole back not the tree digging in so I never knew if the sore back caused the knuckling or the yanking up the head caused the sore back. I do know that the only thing I changed were the hooves and knuckling over has never happened again.
