WEG - AACHEN 2006 (was Re: [RC] WEC 2007) - John Teeter

I hope that the politics and powers in charge look at the selection
process, performance, training methods, feeding practices, and
finally, their personal beliefs for entire reason behind the US
performance at the last two WECs. For the US to do better, the whole
program needs to be looked at from an impartial stance and revamped
with the goal of best possible performance in mind.

This post is most relevant. The 2006 World Equestrian Games will take
place in Aachen Germany Aug 20th - Sept 03 2006. The World Endurance
Championships will be part of that venue:

or

So that is the next time the US team/squad will be formed. The current
Team/Squad became history (and are officially disbanded) as of
yesterday.

So the nomination and selection process starts all over again
now. The AERC convention will be the place were the next Chef 'd
Equipe and Selectors and Team Vets etc. will be determined (I
think). So there are just a few weeks to talk this issue through and
get off on the next leg of the journey.

The most recent squad (of 15 I think) will still have priorities at
upcoming events (like the PanAms in Pinomar on 14 April - not far
off...) but the next real focal point is likely the North American
Championships this fall. In the mean time, there are a number of rides
this spring/summer (with 20 mule team just coming up) at which those
wishing to join the 2006 squad will be needing to compete.

But right now, in the window between the close of competition at the
2004(5) WEC and the next meeting of the AERC International committee,
the next phase is open for re-definition. If you have an opinion - now
is the time to get it out there - and if you want to take an active
part, be at the AERC International meetings at convention. After that,
the next steps will be pretty much in place (as to procedures and
protocols).

jt.

(p.s. feel free to correct me on any of the above. Steph isn't here
right now (she's off with Bev et. all offering her support) so I just
put forth my understanding of where we are....)
