Re: [RC] horses sight unseen - Nancy Sturm

I bought a wonderful Welsh cob filly over the internet, sight unseen, when she was about 10 days old.  She and the seller were both definitely "as advertised".

When I remembered that I never did really enjoy the show ring, I sold the same filly to a nice woman from California who was referred to me in a round about way by someone who had an Arab advertised on endurance.net.  At about this same time, however, I talked with a woman in central California who had just realized she was being scammed when she received a check from a Nigerian bank in excess of the sale price for an experienced endurance horse she was selling.  Her bank had alerted her to the possibility that the apparent cashier's check was bogus.

So maybe in these days it's not just buyer beware, but also seller beware.  She was supposed to have shipped her gelding to Canada.

I hear from the buyer's end but what about the seller?  I sure want to have a sense of what kind of person my dear friend is going to spend--hopefully--a good many years of her/his life with.  Sometimes one can get a true sense over the phone/email, etc.  But for my peace of mind I'd like to meet 'em in the flesh.  Best--
