It works, sort of! Kansas is chigger territory too. Ugh, hate 'em.  The best thing is a product called "Chigarid."

 

A lot of people believe that the nail polish works by closing off the hole and suffocating the little beastie. But, the chiggers do not actually stay inside you. by the time you have the welt and itching, the chigger is gone.
