[RC] liability and neighborhood kids? - Equine Law Online

As a lawyerly type, the answer to this question is complicated. My book,
Equine Liability, has four different chapters that apply: children, releases,
equine liability acts, and insurance. They all play a part in this equation.

Short answer is insurance, lots and lots of insurance.

If you have a release, both parents need to sign. A clause saying that the
parents will indemnify you is probably against public policy, but is a great
way to scare of parents that are likely to sue. Best defense with children is
assumption of risk.

Feel free to email me if you want to talk about this further.
