Another way to making riding crewless really easy is to ride slow enough to come to "lunch" after most people have left. Then there will be a veritable buffet of leftovers for your horse to munch on, saving you the bother of bringing anything for it. And, if you do the xp rides (& others, I'm sure), lunch for riders is provided. So, all you need worry about is your aspirin and maybe a rump rug!
