Re: [RC] good dog - Laney Humphrey

How funny! I'll put in a plug for the breed that supposedly is the "ancestor" of many of the oriental breeds such as Schi Tzu, Pekinese, Lhasa Apso: the Tibetan Spaniel. I had several for years. They are not barn dogs but are great companions and have not been breed for extreme anything. Their coat is quite manageable without even much grooming (mine never got any); their nose is a normal length so they don't have breathing problems and they have no genetic health problems. I suspect the reason they are not more popular is that they aren't a flashy or exotic looking dog. Hmmm. Maybe I'll look into getting another.

I've always been a medium to big dog person, prefer Aussies but my daughter recently bought a Schi Tzu (sp?) I can see how people get attached to these little mops since this one has bonded to me. The only problem with a really flat faced breed around horses is that when they eat manure it gets in their eyebrows. I've decided "zu" translates "face". >g<
