Re: [RC] [RC] Girly Truck Feedback; Toyota? - Catfish Daniels

Hehehe, I had to laugh about this subject being discussed on ridecamp - "Girly Trucks". I didn't know there was such a thing. And then I saw "Toyota" attached to the subject. Yikes - I guess I'm driving a girly truck then - got a Toyota Tundra V8 and love it. Yea, I guess I don't tow a whole lot of weight except my two horse slant bumper pull and a set of portable corrals, and all the other good stuff that travels along to an endurance ride or horse camping venture. My truck pulls it without any problems whatsoever. The trial was my trip up to Tevis last year - as it gets pretty hilly there - and again - no problems whatsoever.

I sell Real Estate for a living - and when I have people in my truck (It's the 4'door double cab), it rides smoother than any truck I've ever sat in - at the very least it feels like a smooth SUV - very quiet, very smooth.

I like my girly truck :-)

The toyota pulls and stops better IMO than any other half ton P/U out there, and yes I do own one. Plenty of power, brakes are AWESOME! When we first bought it, and were in the process of moving, I was hooked to a steel stock BP trailer with both horses loaded, and the trailer brakes were NOT hooked up yet, plus had the bed loaded down with everything that would fit, and it still stopped on a dime, much better than my Ford dually with a three horse G/N with the brakes properly adjusted, and working. Seems folks like comparing the Tundra to 3/4 trucks, which isn't fair, it is a 1/2 ton P/U rated to two 7,200 lbs, and it does GREAT if you plan on staying within the towing rating. However, it is not as friendly to overloading as some other trucks, the suspension is meant for that weight and no more, however it does have the best ride I have ever found in a truck, more like a car!

I'm pretty sure the Toyota isn't built for heavy duty hauling. Laney
