Re: [RC] 4Runners and horse trailers - Sky Ranch

I pull a 2 horse trailer, carrying 1 horse, with my '96 Ford Bronco (full
sized). It has plenty of power to do it, but as Truman says, it's really
not designed to do this task, because it also has a short wheel base. In a
panic stop I'd be in huge trouble. Also, with too much speed I could easily
lose control. The trailer doesn't have brakes, so I'm glad I have a manual
transmission, it definitely helps a lot in slowing down.

I drive very carefully and not too fast. The Bronco, although it's heavy
and fairly wide vehicle, it is still not a good towing vehicle for a horse
trailer. Certainly wouldn't be my tow vehicle if I still had my 3/4 ton
Dodge, which I loved! Takes me a long time to get to rides, but I do get
there. Please be extra careful if you tow with any short wheel base
vehicle.
Carla
