[RC] barbwire/new fence distance - L gin

Looks like I will have to fence inside the barbwire on my new property (2 sides of 4) to keep the horses away from it, before I can take it down( like 6 old strands- and chained dogs , several properties border it, one with horses) later after we move probably this winter (less snakes and bugs too..)
I may fieldfence or use 2" electric tape "horse safe" fence-- or maybe a combo of high tensile(which is on the other 2 sides) and electric tape , at least 2 strands for sight.

My dilemia is how far off the barb wire is safest? Close to it like a foot or two? Or further like 5 feet or 10 or what.?? Longer distance gives them more room if they just bump into it, but what if they get between and then are caught between two fences? Or closer---- but then they don't have much warning if they get thru the first fence?
And if electric tape which distance should be safer?
But with field fence (with electric on top) or high tensil with electric on top--maybe closer would be safer --won't go thru those, but could bounce off them. But I wouldn't want them to get between two substansial fences.
