[RC] Accidents with Trailer High Ties - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I have been using Spring-tie for 5 years with 4 accidents -- all due to a horse
trying to scratch his head. They get their leg over the line, panic, struggle,
and eventually get caught up in the line and fall down. In the past the
plastic buckle has broken and the horse has been freed. This weekend, the new
tether did not have a plastic piece to break and my horse was down until we
could hit the emergency release. He walked away with a rope burn to a rear
pastern.

My question is this -- does anyone have any suggestions for either preventing
this little problem or making your own tether that will break under stress? I
am also considering going to portable corrals, so if anyone has a system to
recommend I would appreciate that information also. Thanks so much,

Susan
