[RC] under the saddle pad temperature gadget and what is it? - Judie Ricci

Hi , I received a few e mails on this after my post,  Radio Shack  sales people don't realize they have something for horse people  :)   So........ the gadget used to get the horses body temp. under the pad IS an indoor out door thermometer.  Radio Shack has several types, hanging on the wall behind the sales counter.   There are two leads, one goes under the pad against the skin, and the other stays out side the pad.   We put it in a baggy, and then in an old stethoscope/ride card bag that can be Velcro onto the front of the saddle or to the top neck piece of the breast collar.
Since this wire lead is made to go out side,  it is fairly water proof,  but the baggy helps keep the sweat off the digital read out window.   You can find them in various sizes,  but it is simply an indoor/out door thermometer, the casing is about 2x3"  this varies depending on which one you choose.
