How do I figure out increases in feed and supplements? Is there a rule of 
thumb?>

Maintain or gain body weight. That's the rule of thumb. You can get an 
electronic scale for about $1200, or less without a platform (build your own). 
By the time you get to the 4 miles a day level, you should own both a scale and 
a heart rate monitor.

Also, does one take into account GL loading at all (and how does it fit into 
the program)?>

GL is used two ways--during competition as a supplement and immediately post 
hard exercise. In both cases it's more of a manipulation of blood glucose 
levels than anything else. It would be a mistake trying to use these 
essentially "empty" calories as a part of the base ration's energy supply.

Looking at the "big picture" and overall goals will keep the process simpler.
