[RC] Horse Buying/Selling - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I always price anything I sell higher than my bottom line
price and don't mind a little dickering as long as it's
not radically low (such as 50% of asked price).

If you, as a buyer, are exerting significant effort,
such as traveling far or taking out a loan to buy
the horse, you may want a signed contract that you
have first option (this might require a non-refundable
deposit). Without a signed purchase agreement,
I wouldn't expect a seller to hold a horse for me since
they had another buyer willing to take the horse immediately
with no contingencies (and save the seller the hassle of
dealing with transport companies, liability of boarding a
horse that is "in between owners" (what happens if the horse
colics and dies before the shipper gets there?), etc.)

YOU know you're honest and fully intend to complete the
transaction unless the horse was misrepresented, but the
seller doesn't know that. There are a lot of flakes out
there wasting SELLERS' time, too.

I had somewhat of the same horse buying experience once.

I told her that We were sure we wanted the
horse as long as it "checked out" with my parents who were going to fly down to
ride the horse for me since I couldn't get away. . with in hours of my parents
flying out I was
lucky enough to check my e-mail ( not even a phone call!!) only to see. " I
Sold the horse today, someone offered me Cash". OK, We agreed on the full
asking price, Plus I would pay feed and board until Transportation could be
lined up. Did she think I was going to Pay in anything less than CASH??
Some people just need to learn to be more ethical in their business practices.
