[RC] : Training techniques for both human and animal - rides2far

My age--I didn't ride my first
endurance
ride until I was over 40. Chronic health issues

And yet you've done a 100! That's wonderful. I truly did not want it to
look as if I looked down on you for riding slowly. I'm very goal oriented
and running up front is only an occasional part of that. Right now I'd be
tickled to do an LD with my youngest guy, and for now I enjoy riding
other people's horses too. By the way, I think an 8 or 9 hr. 50 is a
killer. I think the easiest is about 6:30...faster is work, and slower is
work. It's hard to ask a question like this without everybody thinks I
tried to insult you and I appreciate you not taking it that way. It just
didn't seem to fit. Sort of like icing the batter before it was cake. >g<

It makes sense that you have an equine science degree, and that is the
sort of thing I was wondering about. It takes a certain sort of person to
want to do the glucose measuring, etc. I am a big one for graphs but like
you, the terrain is a major factor on training heart rates and you can't
"maintain 150" when you got to the top of the mountain and have to head
down now.
