I have tried very hard to phrase my posts in a rational manner and refrain from
inflammatory language and personal attacks. Your suggestion that I would be
happier discussing the physical appearance of endurance riders, could be
interpreted as a personal attack on me. You have often stated that you do not
attack anyone who does not fire the first shot, so I will assume that I have
offended you in some manner and not take those comments personally.

Ed, it was a joke. I know FOR CERTAIN that neither of us is interested in
discussing spandex. It was a joke. A JOKE.

But I am also not interested in slogging over the Methods and Materials
sections of every paper I care to cite. Nobody will read that crap. The message
will be lost. I am not a scientist--I am an end user. My clients are end users.
Most RC members are end users. The pointy-heads can argue the finer points all
day--I want to know what works and what doesn't, today. Right now. Most end
users do.

More often that not, I know what works before I've read the pertinent
science--because I already have field reports coming in. People who have tried
something, have been successful with it. Or, people who have had negative
results or indifferent results. In those cases I read the science to learn why.
if I can learn why something works, or doesn't, then I can move on to
investigate further aspects and expand the range of suggested field experiments.

That's my process, and I apologize deeply for it if you find it at all
offensive in any way. But it works. So I'll stick with it. If you think the
process is immoral, or slippery, or whatever you have hinted by saying I cite
only the science that makes my point, then you have a super opportunity to cite
the science that doesn't. That's fair enough for me. I can read. I can respond.
Fair game.

Just don't ask me to get down in the academic wallow where no solutions to
anything are ever found. It's not my game. Still, bring on your contrary cites
and we'll discuss them. If you really care.
