[RC] Marching into Tevis Top Ten - Steve Shaw

There is a certain way that you get into the top ten in Tevis. It takes faith and concentration.
I have tried to learn that from a few people.
The faith part is having faith that HALF of the people that are in front of you will either pull back or be pulled. So you ride accordingly.
The concentration part is riding like four people that are usually in the ride, or have been in the ride.
In my education these have been: Julie Suhr, Sandy Schuler and now recently, Hal Hall and Michele Roush.
Of course Hal has always ridden this way, but has been tactfully under my radar.
There is a certain march that you have to make to get forward in Tevis. This is true of top ten or of completion.
You have to be consistent and continual. You have to match your pace to the conditions of the day. You and your horse figure that out.
But, to make top ten even more competitive, I offer this: Study the riding times into every vet check of these people over the years, many of these stats are available.
And ride like them.....
