[RC] Mentoring in pnw - Mary Krauss

I'd dearly love to have someone advise me and my horse through our first ride--or even just meet up with someone for a training ride or two--or more. My horsey friends all like to amble for an hour, but nothing more than that. I tried to contact those listed as regional mentors but had no luck getting a reply--they're probably too busy out there riding! I'm so close to launching into the endurance world: have the horses, have the truck and rusty gooseneck (with two box stalls--very proud of this trailer). But, I also have 3 children under 7 and just enough apprehension to get in the way. Someone jump in here and help me!!!!! please? I'll give you lots of Starbucks coupons, or soap your saddles, or just say thank you over and over again.

Oh, by the way, I've learned to drive the 24' trailer pretty well, have retrained the horses so that they actually load into the thing, and, best of all, I found a saddle that fits them both (County Competitor, XW) which is a miracle unto itself. Now I just need some company and encouragement.

Almost entered the LD near Sunriver--figured I could stay in the resort the day after--didya' know they have a $20/night boarding stable??? Ok, the human guests have to pay a bit more than $20.... Then thought about trailering all the way down to Ashland/Howard Prairie which is near where I grew up. Again, chickened out. Besides, I didn't know if there was a resort to crash in after the fact.... Just kidding.

I live northeast of Seattle and would love some advice/hand-holding/lecturing/whatever. In case it matters--I'm in great shape right now myself and would happily ride someone's experienced horse if that would be helpful to them. Obviously riding an experienced horse would be brilliantly helpful for me). I own two very fat horses (and one fat pony) and would happily let someone ride one of them in training rides if interested. Neither the very fat Andalusian nor the fat-but-still-can-run-circles-around-everyone-else-Arabian is ready for even a 25 at this point much to my dismay. Here I am wanting to jump right into a hundred-miler and I haven't even gotten the horses fit for 25..... Well, they were almost ready for about a millisecond but that moment vanished when my babysitter went out of town for 4 weeks....
