[RC] Help! Saddle advice for old-style Morgan Gelding in dressage and light trail - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Hi! I have a classic old-style Morgan gelding - short flat back, low withers,
huge shoulders and a big elastic trot. I'm in the throes of getting my
custom-fitted/made Lovatt & Ricketts dressage saddle adjusted 6 months after I
received it. After trying several saddles before this one, I'm looking for
advice on traditional and/or alternative saddles to see if there is anything
out there that won't need to be adjusted constantly (or at least that will fit
him really well) -so I'm looking for advice from the pros! At the least I need
a backup saddle for when the L&R is in the shop or at the worst a primary
saddle if it turns out that we can't get the L&R to work well for both of us.
I don't do distance riding at this point - just dressage and a little light
trail riding.

I searched the list, and there seemed to be some consensus that Ortho Flex was
not a good saddle for short-backed horses. Is this correct? Does anyone have
any suggestions as to other alternative or traditional saddles that they've had
luck with?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
