[RC] glowsticks for night riding - Tracey Smith

Okay, just have to share the coolest glowsticks I have been using for night
riding and for last weekend's Moon Me ride.

Jonni Jewell who just finished Tevis turned me on to them back in May and
they are the BEST! They are LED batteryoperated glowsticks available for
$2.48 each at Wal-mart. Each one lasts 24 hours and the batteries are
non-replacable. They come in a blue, green and red colors, but I like blue
as it sheds a soft light and not the funny colors that can wierd out some
horses. The blue one is not a harsh blinding light and worked even in the
darkest parts of heavily wooded trail.

My friend Anita and I used them at Moon Me and they were great. I attached
mine to the V on the breastcollar and once it was dark just turned it on
(has a little twist on) and it was great. I also had a small hand-held
flashlight on my saddle, but never really needed it. When I came into came
for the VC I turned it off so it'd last longer, but since it's good for 24
hours I still have a lot of life left in it!

I think the brand name is Garrity and they are called "FUN-tastick".
