You should speak to Hal Hall. He grew up as a neighbor of Wendel Robie and was mentored by him as a teenager.

Hal wrote a great book about the Western States Trail..I think he is currently in Dubai however, but I am not sure.

His number is 530-885-1165

Subject: [RC] information for a newspaper story about endurance riding

Hi Everyone,

I am writing a story about the lifestyle behind endurance riding for The Portland Oregonian. The story is running next week as a cover for the paper's Features Section.

It is hard to believe -- but some of the editors there had no IDEA people rode as much as we do. :) So they think it is a great story.

So anyway, as part of the background for the story, I want to talk about how endurance riding started, and why it is so popular. Does anyone have a referrence for me that I can access easily -- hopefully on the internet?

Thanks,

Lori
