RE: [RC] girth sores - Ranelle Rubin

Title: Message
I have used a biothane girth from Sportack on my Skyhorse saddle for about 10 yrs and have never had even the slightest indication of girth soreness...

Subject: [RC] girth sores

Some more ideas, use vaseline, pull the legs forward to stretch out the skin, put the girth back if possible.  I too had girth sores and I never use to.  I could not use a neoprene girth, but a girth cover helped immensely.  Vaseline also helped, putting the saddle in the right place also helped.  It didn't matter what kind of girth I used, my mare got girth sores.  I finally tracked the problem down to my riding.  I was swinging too much.  Eventually I solved the problem for good by using a different saddle.  So keep playing until you find something that works.  Jeanie
