Re: [RC] Heart Murmur - Sarah SimmonsA few weeks ago there was a Quarter Horse I forget which track he was at that had a heart attack and died in the starting gate. I saw the gate open, the horse took one lunge out then just dropped. All four legs went four different directions and that was it. From what I have heard from trainers, track vets, and exercise riders, this type of thing does happen more frequently than we would like to think. I personally knew someone whose horse dropped dead of a brain aneyurism after she had taken a jumping lesson on him. I would look into this further and get a second opinion from my own vet. Also, depending upon how old the horse is, these things can fix themselves as the horse grows and matures.
