[RC] watermelon rinds, corn silk, and plum pits - rides2far

Horse's love watermellon rinds. Mine will kill over them. I cut them
into squares - about an inch by an inch and they gobble them down.
Of > course it might be a "Southern thing" ;-) !

When I was little my sisters and I would cut a piece of watermelon rind
the shape to fit between our lips and teeth, and scratch the lines on the
green so it would look like teeth....would you call *that* a Southern
Thang? >g< I think of it every time Charlie Daniels mentions "Old Green
Teeth" in his song "Uneasy Rider".

I hate to feed my horses watermelon because they get it all over their
face, then turn to bite at a fly leaving sticky "fly bait" all over their
sides. Heck, watermelon costs so much this year I don't think I've even
had one. Thought I'd raise some of my own one year. Got about 15
watermelons...all ripe the same day. :-P
