Re: [RC] Hoof Boots + Gaits - Truman Prevatt

I've seen some TWH trainers change the gait from a broken lateral to broken diagonal - stepping pace to fox trot - by taping a 1 inch square piece of lead tape to the appropriate feet. Don't discount the effect of weight - especially on a horse that has a tendency to be multiple gaited.

The question you really need to ask is "is this gait modification brought on by added weight in the best long term interest of your horse."

This concerned me a bit too, but after looking at the boots and comparing the weights, I suspect that it's bulk vs. weight that causes horses to move differently. I prefer the Epics because they are so minimal but very effective. I only recommend Boa's for sub 20 mile rides.
