[RC] Sweet Tooth - Picky Eater - chicamuxen

I have a gelding that drives me nuts at rides. He turns picky about his feed.
No he doesn't have ulcers, he isn't nervous or stressed. He just plain prefers
textured or "sweet" feed. He's never been fond of beet pulp or soaked feeds of
any type either. He will eat alfalfa at home but only picks at it during a
ride. He prefers to eat green grass and sweet feed. I of course don't want to
feed him sugar ladened high carb feeds during a ride. He's quite a pill at the
vet checks, interested in everything around him, can't stay still, gets into
every thing. I dread taking tack ock off because getting him resaddled while
he wiggles and shifts and wanders is a pain in the $*^$!!!!

Luckily, he is an easy keeper so I not dealing with a horse who had little
reserves to draw on. But I need to get feed in him during the ride and there
isn't always good grazing available. He doesn't care for the forage based
Triple Crown pellets I tried to switch him to. I knew that would be too easy
to work. Anyone have any suggestions on a feed that might interest my "sweet
tooth" boy that is still based on fiber?? Or should I just cave in and feed
him what ever he'll eat?
