Nancy, If you go back into the archives you will find a long
discussion about flax seed (particularly read the ones by
Dr. Garlinghouse) My Arab mare is probably around 900 pounds
and I give her a pound a day (approximately three cups). I
grind it and immediately put it in her soaked beet pulp and
feed. My very allergic mare is no longer very itchy, she was
on shots and I have not given her a shot in weeks. Ok the
test will be with the hot weather we are now getting, but
by now she has normally rubbed to tail alot. If you search
on the internet look for flax seed and icelandic pony. There
was research done on icelandic ponies-ok it is was just one
study, but it has worked more me. I would grind rather than soak but I don't
know if that makes alot of difference.
