I use a metal step in post for the ground pole and plastic step ins for the rest of the fence. If the ground is real dry, you might have to pour some water around the ground post.

I put my own together a lot more economically than buyin the kit, I just don't have a neat little bag to carry it all in. I bought step in posts, electric tape and a battery operated fencer for a little more than $50.
