Re: [RC] quick release snaps - Diane TrefethenQuote: >>>Wouldn't that skinny rope do big damage to a horse that pulls back and there is no breakaway?<<< I know a couple that owned a mare that was a pig-horse. That term describes a horse of obdurate personality. This mare was tied to a trailer and decided she didn't want to be so she started to pull back. She didn't stop until she went into shock from the pain from pulling every muscle in her front end. She was never rideable/useable again. I own a horse who worries easily. I have seen him tied and fly into a violent pull-back but after about 5 seconds of futility, he stops. He pulls back first and thinks second, but HE THINKS. The above mare never did. It wasn't that she panicked. She just didn't want to be tied and refused to quit pulling back. Unless you own such a horse, when it pulls back, it will either succeed in breaking away or it won't and if it doesn't, it WILL stop to think. Of course, if it is being attacked by a mountain lion, all bets are off. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
