[RC] OD harder than Tevis? - Vanessa S WatersAs I now have 21 finishes on 23 100 mile starts..... 1992 with 99 starters, OD was my first 100 and it is by far what all 100s are judged by (in my mind). Me and Thunder (Rahad) finished 9th by following Valerie in at the river..and riding alone most of the day. I'll always remember walking in hand up Shermans Gap, taking what was left of my last bottle of water.. squirting half in my mouth and the rest into Thunder's..I leaned up against a tree at the top and couldn't believe I could hear Valerie at the bottom. She trucked up on me like I was standing still. The smartest move I made that day was even when Thunder pulsed down faster than Dora, following Valerie in got me to sweet spot (top 10)and only a few miles of darkness. When I look at all the 100 mile buckles, my 2 most prized are Top Ten Old Dominion and Top Ten Vermont.
