[RC] stepping pace to canter transition,and "Power" walk - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

More stuff I picked up after paying attention to Truman in years past:1):Some
steping pace horses(of which,again,90% of TWH's are)occasionally have
transition to canter/cross cantering problems problems.What helped me back then
was that I was mis-cueing Chico somehow;the cure came in leaning forward just a
bit more;maybe he was changing leads via the back legs,who knows;anyway,the
increased leaning forward worked. 2): The "Power Walk" discussion on this board
some years back was very helpful to me,and the principles apparently apply to
both gaited and non-gaited. In the years since then ,I have often wondered if
you could'nt make a great Field Trial horse out of a big Thoroughbred by
speeding up his walk a bit,never trotting,and teaching him the slow lope.My
European horse culture oriented farrier says forget it...well,I think it would
work....
