[RC] Drop and spin - Budler,Cindy - Afrox

Can only agree that the famous Arab drop sholder spook and spin is famous
all over the world :)
My first arab - and a mare to boot taught me all about htis uniquely Arab
gait so that eventually I though I could sit them all - and every other arab
after that was fine UNTIL I backed my current mare - AND changed my saddle.
Now , just when I am getting too old to bounce so well, I am learning all
over again.
Sitting these kind of movements is definately done a lot better in a saddle
that is deep with knee and/or thigh rolls. My new saddle is one developed by
our only endurance saddle manufacturer and designer in South Africa- and
this is his new model. The previous saddle I used was also by Leon but was
his first endurance saddle and had the much deeper seat and the thigh rolls.
This one is the Sport Lite model and because of that has minimal leather and
no knee or thigh rolls. The seat is fantastic for endurance - long leg,
perfectly under you, with a very forward position on the horse - you cannot
get behind the horses motion- 2 pointing is soooo easy and posting to the
trot is unnoticeable for 100's of km's. But you are very vulnerable to any
change of balance forwards and it is VERY easy to lose it over a shoulder.
I sympathise with Angie cos I too usually end up in front of Breeze and then
get dragged for a few steps on my *ss until she realises that mom is fine
and wishing to climb up and escape the monster.
I must admit the spooks are bad at home and at slow speeds - the Arab
teleport is the spook of choice when moving at speed and I just seem to go
with the flow :),while the "spookiest horse in the world" very seldom even
thinks of it while at a race .

Cindy Budler
