 Since I bruise with english leathers--- I use halfchaps, and meriono  
covers on my wbbers 9which have to be covered anyway or they rub my leather 
saddle.  I bought car steering wheel covers  from Walmart and made my own 
for 8$-- but I "hear" you can actually buy them- LOL
  My daughter and her Hunter  friends  rountinely ride with shorts and 
halfchaps in summer. If they are leather(suede) , it's not much different 
than  leather breeches......
