[RC] Brand inspections - marshall Bates

I was personally involved in two cases where the brand
inspectors in Colorado were able to return lost
equines to their owners. One case was a bit comical.
The son when off to work at a dude ranch in north east
Colorado for the summer, taking his favorite mule with
him, About 3 weeks later Dad got a call from the brand
inspector telling him that they had found his mule on
a cattle ranch in southern Colorado. The mule had
gotten loose and traveled about 200 miles and Dad
didn't know a thing about it being missing.
I have been stopped in the middle of the state in
Kentucky and asked for health and coggins papers by
the ag. dept
and the guy actually got in the trailer to verify
that we had the animals that the paper worked claimed.
I've also been stopped in Airizona by the brand
inspector.
Fl does check papers at the port of entries but when
I've gone back roads I've never been checked by anyone
