[RC] re: brand inspections - Dreamweaver

I think that if you do get checked in a state that requires brand inspections and are from a state that doesn't have one, you can have it done then when they check your proof of ownership. We arranged in 2001 for the Brand Inspector to come out in Wyoming, and again in 2004 in Nevada.

I am from Nevada so have the horses lifetime permanent brand inspection cards. It's really nice, they can travel anywhere and when I have been checked the inspectors have only been interested in that card. Once I show that, they have never asked to see my coggins or health papers. I show them anyway because of all of the money I've invested in them over the years, they should be looking at them! ;^)

A lot of people aren't happy with how the brand inspections work in Nevada. An inspector gets paid a portion of the tickets he writes, and they can pull you over for the sole purpose of checking your paperwork and no other reason. They have gotten a lot of flack over it, so maybe they'll back off. If I pull my horse out of pasture and his paperwork expired while he was there, I cannot even legally haul him to the vet clinic, that is pretty much BS.
