Re: [RC] Animal Abuse? - apleg8'n

Oh Karen there are so many groups out there trying and have been trying you
can't believe. It all goes for naught. You can go to websites for the
Sorenomore and many others and witness the gawd-awful cruelty...if you can
stand to even look. Everyone knows about this in the Walking or Gaited horse
world. They all turn a deaf ear and stuff the money in their pockets the
very ones that are supposedly being paid to protect these creatures.

My young trainer that is living with me now and helping me train my Gaited
horses is from Tennessee. He has worked in those big Barns. He is telling me
stories that just leave my jaw dropping. The few that DON'T sore are the
exceptions...if in fact there is ANYONE that doesn't sore to some degree. No
way those horses can break over level and do what they do without soring or
abuse.

I was just sent a video of a recent show in Fla. for a speed racking event
but before it was a Padded show. I again was sickened at the sight of it
all. How anyone can find that crap entertaining is way beyond me. The pain
of those horses is so evident in every single step.

And for breeders and riders like myself....these Padded Show TWH are what
most people associate the Walkers with. Most people have not a clue that
Walking horses were originally bred for ENDURANCE! They were bred to take
the Plantation owners far and wide in a fast smooth pace. Bred for Stamina,
soundness and above all else to give those long days in the saddle a smooth
ride. No sissy horses these!

The dang Big Lick show people ruined the reputation and the horses for their
selfish egos. Fortunately the majority of Walking horses are still used as
fine trail mounts. More and more are seeing the advantage for endurance and
CTR. My goal is to show people how well my gaited horses can compete in
these sports and they do! Field Trial participants almost exclusively use
TWH. And they put some tough miles on those horses. I just sold one of my
boys for that and it will be right up his ally. Having AERC in his
background made him a perfect candidate for the Field Trials sport.

Hey the biggest and longest stand of Equine Abuse is still going strong in
this Country right before everyone's eyes and supported big time. The
Humane
officials know of it, the Feds know of it and yet for decades it
continues.
How about trying to stop this? Forget it. I have been involved and now I
just have to turn my head and try not to ever look. It is the biggest
shame
to the horse industry I can think of. I know Truman has also been involved
greatly with this. So many people have and yet it goes on and on.

Too much $$ to ever get it stopped. Payoffs to the Officials. Generation
after Generation growing up in it and it just becomes the "Frog in the
Pot"
syndrome to those people that have absolutely no conscience about the
horrendous pain and suffering these horses endure.

Of course I am talking about the Freak Show with the Padded Tennessee
Walking Horses. THE BIG LICK. It is not just the Frankenstein weighted
shoes
they carry, that is the kind part. It is the chemicals smeared into the
legs, nails driven up the quick, chains digging into their legs. If you
have
ever seen the eyes on these poor horses it will tell you all. Then look at
the rear ends of them tucked so far underneath themselves trying to
aleviate
the horrendous pain. Now this is where you should be sending your protests
to. This goes on daily, not just once a year. The riders have no danger.
And
the abuse these horses suffer after the soring to behave when the
inspectors come around is as bad as the soring itself. Sickening is too
nice
of a word for this barbaric "Showing"
