Re: [RC] re: ponies in distance riding - Tiffany D'Virgilio

I'll admit it. I'm 5'9" and I technically own two ponies. Mosh, I would not trade for any taller horse in the world. I always get compliments on her. Her proportions, looks, way of going, etc. I love that mare. She is 13, had her for 7 years and she is delicate, but strong, bold and big in every way but stature. Her heart is as big as any horse in the world and she handles herself like a mountain goat, can get up and down and in and out of places and has never been lame or had any soundness issues. Mosh is mainly CMK/old American lines-lots of Alice Payne breeding, and I trust her with my kids as well. Other mare is an Egyptian/Polish cross, same height, but built like a brick house. Feels big, but rides smaller than the petite mare. Still is very agile, sound and an easy keeper.
I love the small ones now, I don't have to duck as far under branches either, and when you are tired at the end of a ride, it's always easy to hop back on. It really is how big they are on the inside that counts, not the outside. To me, a good horse is a good horse regardless of size, color, or breed.
Tiff
