I did mention that it was not good for horses predisposed to laminitis. I had a horse who was chronically laminitic. I had to keep him off ALL legumes.. clover, lespedeza, alfalfa, etc. I also said that for most horses it was ok in moderation. I wouldn't turn a horse out 24/7 on a field of lush clover. But if there's a little here and there and the horse is otherwise healthy, I don't worry about it.

laminitis was last year when she was moved to a field overgrown w/
clover. i just put a muzzle on her on friday in hopes of preventing
both the slobers and more importantly, the metabolic issues. if it
were up to me i'd plow that field under but management doesn't see it
that way:(.
