Re: [RC] prineville-injured riders and horses - rdcarrie

Yep, that's exactly what I said.  That *I* typically ride with a loose girth.  Now please explain to me where you get the idea that I'm advocating that others do the same?  (In case you need help:  Advocate:  To speak, plead, or argue in favor of)
As for whether it's asking for trouble...I use a breast collar. (ah, back to the original topic!)  You couldn't *pull* my saddle under my horse's belly if you tried.
You ride your way, I'll ride mine...and I'll continue to use a breast collar to protect other riders from having my horse bolt through them with a saddle under his belly.  And just because a horse bolts home, back to camp/trailer, or to another safe place and waits there to have the offending saddle removed doesn't make it "ok."  It's who/what he runs through to get there that causes the problem.

what you said was that you "typically ride with a loose girth" (plenty of daylight showing between the girth and the horse's belly)       i said that is asking for trouble, and it is.
i dont tighten my girth so tight that my horse is uncomfortable.     cowboy ed
