Hello, I know that which hay to feed gets quite controversial but just wanted
to ask a question on a load first flower alfalfa. Talking with a friend (i am
in california) we were discussing the difficulty of obtainig good hay and i
told her that we just got in a new load of hay that is just bueatiful. It is
alfalfa that is very leafy, clean, heavy, and seems to be quite rich, on the
slip it said "first flower". I have been very careful with it and have been
feeding small amounts and have had no problems and the horses love it but my
friends eyes became quite large and she explained to me that it was dairy hay
and i shouldnt feed it to my horses. I just wanted some input on the subject ,
my family has fed alfalfa for years with no problems and i have been getting
hay from the same dealer for years but this has me a little alarmed, is the hay
too good to be true?
